A Fun Start: Goswick Grant Helps Berwick Rugby Club Promote its Youth Programme

May 26, 2023

There’s no substitute for getting an early start at learning a new skill. That certainly applies to athletic endeavours, which is why the Berwick Rugby Club has made its youth programme a top priority.

Earlier this year, Goswick awarded Berwick Rugby Club one of the grants as part of its new Community Grant outreach effort. The club, in turn, is using the money to promote participation among boys and girls to help them keep fit, meet new friends and take their games to a higher level.

Berwick Rugby Club has been in existence in its current form since 1968.In the more than 50 years since, it has simply gone from strength to strength.

“The club was delighted to learn that Goswick had awarded it a grant,” said Chris Budzynski, who serves as the club’s fixture secretary. “We are particularly pleased with the development of our youth sections. These youngsters are the future of the great game of rugby and it’s very important that we do everything we can to encourage them and ensure the club is a welcoming place for them. And while the focus is on participation no matter what the skill level, we have had players who’ve started their playing careers with us and have gone to be capped by their country and receive representative honours.”
