In solidarity with the latest government guidelines, and after much deliberation from us, Goswick Golf Links has decided to close its course to all play. This shutdown applies to members and visitors alike.
If you are a visitor, we realise this runs counter to every other message this website is striving to communicate. But, after much consideration by our club’s board, it’s clear this unprecedented step was the only responsible course of action for us amid the crisis.
As we see it, we must do whatever we can to help:
- ensure your safety
- minimise the spread of the coronavirus
- give the NHS a fighting chance to combat it
Those priorities outweigh our desire to welcome you to Goswick and share our wonderful links with you — as we would much rather be doing. We hope you understand.
In the meantime, please be assured that our greenkeeping staff will continue to work hard to maintain the course to its always high standard. And to the extent possible, they will also look to make it even better.
That way, when the authorities give us the ‘all clear’ and we can reopen the course to all — and that day will come — you’ll be able to fully experience golf the way it was meant to be played, on true links land in all its glory.
In fact, when that much happier time comes around, we plan to treat is as a grand reopening — complete with special offers just for our visitors. So please do keep us in mind as you continue to think about golf, even if you can’t play it just now.
Meanwhile, we invite you to consider indulging in a virtual round via our course flyover tour. It’s the next best thing to being here, with the added virtue of being virus-free.
And we encourage you to subscribe to our newsletter. It’s the simplest and most efficient way to stay current on the latest developments.
As you know, this is a highly fluid situation. We have to plan for the worst. But that’s not going to stop us from hoping for the best. And maybe, just maybe, we’ll all be able to return to a normal way of life on the links sooner rather than later.
So stay healthy. Stay in touch. And we will gather again to play the game we all love, a bit further down the fairway.
