
A hearty congratulations to the winners in last weekend’s 36-hole club championship at Goswick!
The overall champion was Gareth Pugh with a gross score of 140 (74-70), followed by Alan Potts at 146 (76-70). Les Wallace captured the 2nd Division crown with a gross score of 156 (78-78), with Morris McGonigle the runner-up on 162 (81-81). And the 3rd Division title went to Dylan Newton with a gross score of 168 (88-80), followed by Ken Minshull with 179 (87-92).
Newton also claimed the George Elliott Nett Trophy with the best single net round of 64 as well as the handicap title with a nett 136 for the two days. Shane Armstrong, with a 5-under-par 67, posted the low gross round of the weekend and claimed the George Elliott Gross Trophy.
Meanwhile, among the ladies, Sandra McGonigle prevailed with a gross score of 163 (83-80), with Bobbie Minshull taking the McGonigle Salver on 151.
The competition drew a strong field of 88 players. Well done to all who participated, as well as to the greenkeeping staff for the excellent playing conditions.
