Goswick Grant Helps Berwick Rangers Juniors Add Two Under 7 Teams

May 3, 2023

Every journey starts with a first step. And when it comes to football, Goswick Golf Club is very proud to play a small role in helping several youngsters on their way.

Earlier this year, Goswick awarded Berwick Rangers Juniors one of the grants as part of its new Community Grant programme. The club, in turn, is using the money to help cover the cost of certifying four coaches to lead two new Under 7 teams this season.

Since it was formed in the early 1980s,Berwick Rangers Juniors has strived to provide a safe place for girls and boys to develop their football skills, progress in the game and participate in society as mature and responsible individuals. So in a very tangible way, the Goswick grant is building on that mission.

Overall, Berwick Rangers Juniors has more than a dozen teams ranging in age from Under 7 to Under 16, all of whom participate in leagues throughout Northumberland and North Tyneside. They are ably supported by an enthusiastic group of volunteers, including the charity’s committee, coaches and parents.

“Berwick Rangers Juniors are extremely grateful to Goswick Golf Club for its generosity,” said Steve Ingram, who received the grant on behalf of the charity. “Without the enthusiastic and long-standing support of this community, we would not exist. And now, with this additional funding, we are able to expand our reach. Hopefully this will be just the start of a long and mutually beneficial partnership.”

In part because of this relationship, Goswick has invited Berwick Rangers Juniors participants to take advantage of an introduction to golf offered by the club’s professionals. More than 70children have signed up, so Goswick will host a series of sessions over the current playing season to accommodate everyone.
