Making a Connection (photo above) — The girls get a feel for swinging a club and hitting a ball under the watchful eyes of David Ord (blue jacket) and Grace Crawford (pink vest).
Goswick got a glimpse of its future on Saturday when 17 girls between the ages of 5 and 14 gathered on the practice field for the club’s first-ever Golf Taster Event for Girls.
PGA Professional David Ord provided instruction. Fourteen-year-old Grace Crawford, a member at North Berwick as well as the under-18 Scottish national team, kindly dropped by to offer inspiration to those who might one day follow in her footsteps. And several club members provided logistical and moral support as the girls tried their hand at chipping and putting as well as some full-swing coaching.

At the close of the two-hour introduction to the game, each of the participants was presented with a goody bag loaded with golf items and information about other opportunities to learn more about the game at Goswick.

Though this was Goswick’s first such event for girls, it will certainly not be its last. The club is participating in England Golf’s ‘Girls Golf Rocks’ programme and will host two sessions of six one-hour lessons for just £35 per girl. The first session starts on Sunday 4th July and the second on Sunday 22nd August.
