The Goswick Golf Withdrawal Series: Day 42

May 4, 2020

Congratulations! You’ve made it to the six-week mark of the UK’s COVID-19 lockdown. And, it would appear, there are glimmers of light at the end of this golf-less tunnel. But until the game can resume, Goswick’s vice chairman (or is that chairman of vice?) offers his thoughts.

What is your name? Roger Andrews

Where do you live? Holy Island

When did you become a member at Goswick? September 2017

What’s the one thing you miss the most about it during the shutdown? Not being able to meet the staff at the club, buy balls for the practise ground and play as many holes as I can before the tide comes in.

What’s one thing you are doing to try to fill the void? A lot of gardening. I haven’t gardened for eight years, so there is a lot to do! I have created a vegetable garden so my wife and I can eat without waiting for the Tesco delivery man.

In the middle of the veg patch, I have also created a little tee where I can practise my driving. When this is all over, I hopefully will be able to hit the ball a little further!
