Just in case you’ve lost track, it’s Thursday — about half way through the fifth week of the COVID-19 lockdown in the UK. But that hasn’t dimmed the Goswick members’ passion for the game. Case in point: Andrew Renton.
What is your name? Andrew Renton
Where do you live?I live in Tweedmouth and have lived at my current address for 43 years.
When did you become a member at Goswick? I joined Goswick in 1987. I was a member at the Hirsel in Coldstream but living in Berwick, so it was difficult to organise my games. Joining Goswick seemed like the best option.
What’s the one thing you miss the most about it during the shutdown? There is so much to miss about the club during current situation. It’s difficult to come up with one thing. We have a course second to none thanks to our talented greens team. We are made welcome by the catering and bar staff. We also have a well-stocked pro shop and the whole set up is linked together by our proficient secretary and his staff. I miss all of it, as well as the banter with the members.
What’s one thing you are doing to try to fill the void? Apart from my daily exercise, sticking to the guidelines and social distancing, I have spent a lot of time in the garden (with the odd break to swing a 7-iron). So my garden now looks as if the house is occupied.
